John the Baptist, was a mission preacher and a major religious figure who led a
movement of baptism at the Jordan River.

gospels relate to John's ministry, his preaching and baptism in the River Jordan.
In Christianity, Saint John is thought of as the last prophet. Christians believe that John the
Baptist had a specific role ordained by God as forerunner or precursor of Jesus.
