Holiday - General Prayer Day, Store Bededag
General Prayer Day (Store Bededag)

General Prayer Day (Store Bededag)Store Bededag is a Danish Holiday celebrated on the 4th Friday after Easter. The day was introduced in the Danish Church in 1686 by King Christian V.

It is also called as General Prayer Day, All Prayers Day, Great Day of Prayers or Common Prayer Day. The tradition on the evening before is to buy and eat 'varme hveder', a traditional bread.

Store Bededag is a statutory holiday in Denmark. General Prayer Day is also celebrated in the Faroe Islands and Greenland as national holiday.
