 Yom Kippur is the most solemn and important of the Jewish holidays.
It is also known as the Day of Atonement.
Yom Kippur is the tenth and final day of the Ten Days of Repentance which
begin with Rosh Hashanah. During the Ten Days of Repentance, a Jew tries to
amend his behavior and seek forgiveness for wrongs done against God.
Erev Yom Kippur is the day before Yom Kippur, the ninth day of the Hebrew
month of Tishrei. This day is commemorated with two festive meals, the
giving of charity, and asking others for forgiveness. It is called as eve
of day of atonement.
Day of Atonement is a legal holiday in the modern state of Israel. It is also a
public holiday in Netherlands Antilles.
