International Youth Day:
United Nations officially recognized the International Youth Day on August 12th.
Many countries celebrate the Day as a National Holiday.
Cameroon:
This is a national holiday in Cameroon on February 11.
Kiribati:
The Day has been declared a National Holiday on August 7th. The main celebration
would be the sports competitions, local dances and singing competitions between youths
from different parts of islands in Kiribati. The main sporting events would be
soccer, volley ball, boxing, tennis and basketball.
Palau:
It is a national holiday in Palau on March 15.
South Africa:
This Day is celebrated on 16 June in South Africa. It commemorates the start of the
Soweto riots of 1976. The iconic picture of Hector Pieterson, a black schoolchild shot
by the police, brought home to many people within and outside South Africa the brutalities
of the Apartheid regime.
Tunisia:
It is a public holiday celebrated in Tunisia every year on 21st March.
Turkey Youth and Sports Day:
Youth and Sports Day is celebrated on May 19 in Turkey. This day is also Ataturk Day,
a day of commemoration of Kemal Atatürk, the "Father of Turkey", and the commemoration
of the beginning of the national liberation movement initiated by Atatürk in 1919.
Turks and Caicos Islands:
National Youth Day is a national holiday in Turks and Caicos Islands on September 26th.
Zambia:
It is a public holiday in Zambia on March 10th.
